Family, we spend a lot of time here discussing artists and music but I never ask if you have any talent.

Well, do you?

If so, you might want to check out music showcase One Mic Monday next week (Oct. 12) at Skandalos in east Charlotte.

The event will be hosted by JKnowTruth, a Charlotte event coordinator who specializes in marketing and promoting.

Singers and rappers looking for their big break just may find it here:

They will get the chance to perform during the halftime break during Monday Night Football.

And with radio personalities and major label reps scheduled to attend, you never know if your big break awaits.

What you need to know:

Doors open 8 p.m. Monday at Skandalos, 5317 E. Independence Blvd. Performers may register to perform for free from 8-8:45 p.m. To choose a performance time slot, register before Monday ($20 for solo acts; $40 for groups and duos).

Prizes include free studio time and a chance to be Power 98’s “Next Big Thing.”

Patrons 21 and older are free before halftime.

Performers must adhere to three rules, JKnowTruth says: Do not wander off stage during song; performances may not exceed five minutes; and absolutely no diss records.
