According to former Cash Money Millionaires Juvenile, B.G. and Mannie Fresh, a Hot Boys reunion is definitely in motion.
“(Lil) Wayne is going to put that out, so for me and Wayne, it’s a go. I don’t know if the business been straightened out, but I know B.G.’s on board and he’s willing to do it. I don’t know where Turk stand on the business side,” Juvenile recently told Vibe.
It’s been six years since we’ve heard from the Hot Boys collectively, and there have been rumblings for quite a while that the New Orleans group had been poised for reunion.
But with Juvenile and B.G. currently signed to Atlantic Records, Mannie Fresh going at it alone and Lil Wayne, well, dominating the music world (it costs artists at least $75,000 for a guest appearance by Wayne on a track), how likely is a reunion, especially now? As it is, Wayne is preparing to release his first rock -- yes, rock -- album this summer, Juve and B.G. are scheduled to drop solo efforts later this year and fellow former Hot Boy Turk is currently serving a jail sentence after pleading guilty to shooting a Tennessee SWAT Team member.
But it sounds like the rappers of the 5-0-4 are this close to making the reunion official. So what do you think? Is this a reunion you’ve been waiting for -- and you want to see it really happen this time -- or has too much (or not enough) time passed for this to even be successful?
And make you sure you check out the group’s 1999 video, “I Need a Hot Girl.”
