Kanye West’s tour of redemption continues this week with the announcement the rapper will be performing at the 2010 MTV VMAs, MSN.com reports.

This is huge for West, who has kept a low profile in the past year, following the last time he was on a VMAs’ stage – last September, when he bum-rushed country crooner Taylor Swift. He took Swift’s mic during her acceptance speech (for Best Female Video) and charged the honor really belonged to Beyoncé.

He was reportedly escorted out of building after his (reportedly drunken) tirade. He had had a similar incident just three years prior during MTV’s 2006 Europe Music Awards. He recently opened the BET Awards but was not heard from much that night.

West has been making serious inroads with MTV as of late; the network last week premiered – exclusively – his near-two-minute “moving painting” to promote his new single, “Power.”
