Club kids and baby mamas rejoice.
Kelis is back with “Acapella,” an offering from what will be her first album in nearly four years.
The song is a dizzy, fantastic disco trip in the vain of Donna Summer and Diana Ross. On it, Kelis sings,”before you/ my whole life was acapella,” suggesting her world lacked music until someone special graced her presence -- a love song to her months-old son, Knight, perhaps?
On her official Web site, the ex-Mrs. Nas muses she wrote the track with “love and life in mind.”
If much of the “Milkshake” singer’s new album -- which is nearly completion, she writes -- sounds like “Acapella,” she may be able to compete against the likes of Lady Gaga and Rihanna on the dance scene.
But what do you think, family? Yea or nay on Kelis’ new track?
