Police arrested 18 people on drug- and alcohol-related charges at a DWI checkpoint Friday night.

The checking station, part of the “Booze it and Loose it” campaign, was in the 400 block of Eastway Drive near Howie Circle from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m.

It was the second night in a row that CMPD, working with other agencies, had set up a check point:

The results were as follows:

DWI Charges - 9

Driving With License Revoked - 20

No Operator's License - 45

Open Container - 4

Possession of Alcohol Under Age - 1

Drug Charges - 5

Other Citations (tags, insurance, etc..) - 23

Seat Belt - 2

Warrants - 1

Total Charges - 110

Total arrests - 18 (9 DWI, 5 DWLR, 1 Warrant, 3 drug)

Agencies that participated: CMPD, Pineville Police Department and Mecklenburg County ABC
