An overnight shooting in south Charlotte left one person dead.

The victim was identified as Keith Deonte Patterson, 25.

The shooting was reported at 8:07 p.m. Monday in the Emerald Bay Apartments in the 5000 block of Cherrycrest Lane. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses were taken to police headquarters for questioning. Police said the were were looking for a red BMW occupied by several Hispanic males.
