Update: On Monday, police charged Reuben Timothy Curry, 28, with murder in the shooting of Steele. Police located Curry at CMC-Main where he was being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound sustained during the incident.

Police are investigating a shooting early Monday that left one man dead in west Charlotte.

The victim was identified as Ronny Eugene Steele, 57. No suspect was named.

According to a police report, officers responding to a call found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound just before 1 a.m. in the 2800 block of Wedgefield Drive, in a community just east of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. The victim was later pronounced dead at Carolina Medical Center-Main.
