Two people were shot and killed early Saturday morning in the parking lot of an east Charlotte apartment complex.

The victims were not immediately identified.

According to early police reports, a male and a female were found shot inside a Jeep sport-utility vehicle in the parking lot of the Four Seasons Apartments on Four Seasons Lane, just north of Albemarle Road. The shooting occurred around 2:21 a.m.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene; the female died later at Carolinas Medical Center.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots and saw a black SUV occupied by at least one black male leaving the apartment complex after the shootings. Another black male was seen running from the scene.
