Police on Saturday arrested three people suspected in the shooting death of 20-year-old Devon Clement outside a Cookout Restaurant on Sugar Creek Road two weeks ago.

Antonio Hamilton, 19, turned himself in early Saturday and was charged with murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Cherelle Monet Griffin, 20, surrendered to police hours later and was booked on the same charges.

The third suspect, Shamon Monair Goins, 19, was taken into custody by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, also booked on charges of murder and shooting in to an occupied dwelling.

All three were being held in the Mecklenburg jail.

Based on initial interviews, police believe that Clement was shot after arguing with several people outside the north Charlotte restaurant. His death marked a five-day period in which the city saw five homicides. As a result, police increased patrols in neighborhoods where the killings occurred.
