A night of video games turns deadly
A night of video games turned deadly as a teen was shot to death early Tuesday in the Washington Heights neighborhood of northwest Charlotte, just off Beatties Ford Road.
Police did not immediately release the victim’s name or indicate whether the shooting was intentional or accidental.
When officers arrived on the scene at a home in the 2200 block of Tate Street around 1 a.m., they found the victim lying in a hallway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead.
Based on witness statements to police, the victim and several others were playing video games when a firearm was discharged and the victim was struck.
The Charlotte Observer is reporting that the victim was 16.
