Alert neighbor helps police nab burglary suspects
Police are praising the action of an alert resident in northeast Charlotte who called 911 Thursday morning to report suspicious activity at a neighbor’s house.
The neighbor reported that at least person had broken into a home in the 7700 block of Linda Lake Drive and that a silver SUV was parked in the driveway.
When officers arrived, the SUV sped away. A chase began that lasted about six minutes down I-85 south and involved CMPD and the NC State Highway Patrol.
Arrested were Desmond Antonio Robinson, 21, (the driver), and Charles Earl Harvey, 21. Both were charged with multiple felonies related to the alleged break-in. Robinson faces additional charges related to the chase.
“This is yet another outstanding example of what to do when you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood,” CMPD spokesman Robert P. Fey said Thursday.
