Army sergeant charged with sexual assault
Police have arrested a 45-year-old U.S. Army sergeant accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Charlotte recruiting station.
Charlie Landrum Ingram, a recruiting sergeant, was arrested Thursday and charged with
two counts of sexual battery, one count of false imprisonment, and one count of assault on a female.
According to police, the assault took place Feb. 3 at an Army recruiting office on McCullough Drive in the University City area
A woman told police she was there participating in the Future Soldiers program when Ingram made inappropriate sexual comments and directed her to a supply room where he fondled her. The victim told police she attempted to leave but Ingram pushed her into the corner. The woman said she was able to escape when someone came into the building and startled Ingram.
Ingram, facing an arrest warrant, surrendered to police and was booked in the Mecklenburg sheriff’s office. Bond was set at $5,000
