Charlotte man charged in son's death
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested Christopher Durant, 33, Thursday morning in
relation to the death of his four-month-old son.
Tuesday, officers responded to a call for medical assistance in the 1400 block of Ventura Way in northeast Charlotte.
At the residence, the infant was found unresponsive and taken to Presbyterian Hospital. Emergency room staffers alerted police there were signs of physical abuse.
Tuesday evening, the infant died.
Based on the findings of the medical examiner and a preliminary investigation, which involved interviewing the infant’s parents and processing the home for evidence, a murder warrant was issued for Durant’s arrest.
At 9 a.m. Thursday, police arrested Durant at his residence without incident.
He is currently being held without bond.
According to CMPD records, Durant was arrested in March 2009 for a misdemeanor assault on a female.
