Arrests were down in uptown Charlotte this New Year's Eve
Police arrested 31 adults in uptown Charlotte in the hours leading up to and after New Year’s Eve festivities. That total was down 38 percent from last year, when 50 adults were arrested.
The largest number of arrests involved charges alleging disorderly conduct, illegal drugs, assault and trespassing. All of the arrests were recorded between 7 p.m. and 3:30 a.m.
Police said 19 of the 31 adults who were arrested live outside of Mecklenburg County, including five who live in other states. Police also reported that 16 juveniles were arrested for curfew violations.
