BET Awards all about Breezy?
Last night was a big night for Chris Brown at the BET Awards. The singer won four trophies and performed twice, but a moment of triumph turned awkward after a mix up
reminded fans of Brown’s domestic violence conviction two years ago.
When Tiffany Green, a fan from Flat Rock Michigan, took to the stage to announce the winner of the Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award she first said it was Brown, then mistakenly announced his ex-girlfriend Rihanna had won.
Rihanna was not present, and singer Drake called the moment “awkward” when he accepted the award on her behalf.
It’s been two years since Rihanna and Brown split after he admitted to beating her.
Green’s mistake was blamed on a mix up between a computer tablet and a teleprompter. BET later clarified that Brown was the "viewers choice," not Rihanna.
The station’s programming president Stephen Hill took the blame, calling the incident “a human error,” reports CNN. Brown's name was correctly on the tablet in Green's hand, but the show producers put the wrong name -- Rihanna's -- on the teleprompter, Hill said.
After the show, Brown refused to answer questions backstage in the media room. Instead, he laid down across the stage with two of his trophies and posed with a big smile.
He later took to Twitter to thank God for the lessons he’s learned.

More NC criminals seek clean slate
As the job market in North Carolina remains tight and competitive, state records show more people are seeking to gain an advantage by having their criminal records
erased. The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that the number of expungements granted each year has nearly tripled since 2000. More than 76,000 people in the state who were once charged with a crime now have a clean slate. Records of their previous run-ins with the law can now only be accessed by a handful of top court officials. Earlier this month, Governor Beverly Perdue signed a law relaxing restrictions on expungements and enabling people convicted of nonviolent felonies at age 16 or 17 to apply. Judicial officials say more people are concerned about their deviant pasts as companies are now more likely to conduct in depth screenings of job applicants. (Read more here)

Will Perdue sign abortion law?
Governor Beverly Perdue has until midnight to veto or sign a bill into law that will re
quire women seeking abortions to go through more steps prior to having the procedure. After midnight, the bill will become law without her signature, reports The Raleigh News & Observer. Perdue, who is an abortion-rights supporter, is not expected to sign the bill. Her spokeswoman previously linked the legislation to what she called an "extreme agenda" of the Republican-led General Assembly. If the bill becomes law, pregnant women will need to have an ultrasound of their fetus and wait at least 24 hours after receiving counseling before they can have an abortion. (Read more here)

Superintendent calls for more diversity in Wake County
The Wake County school district wants more blacks, Hispanics and other m
inorities to join their teaching staff. "I'm not satisfied with the fact that we have an 85 percent Caucasian teaching force and 50.5 percent minority student population," the district’s superintendent Tony Tata told the Raleigh News & Observer. Although recruiters are facing some difficulties in fulfilling their mission, they have made some progress in the past two months. At least 27 minority teachers have been hired. The call to increase the number of minority teachers mirrors efforts statewide and nationally to make the teaching ranks more representative of an increasingly diverse student enrollment. Woman forced to remove adult diaper at airport
The Transportation Security Administration stands behind its decision to force a 95-year-old cancer-stricken woman to removed her adult diaper while going through a pat down security check at a Florida airport. The TSA released a statement Sunday defending its agents' actions. "While every person and item must be screened before entering the secure boarding area, TSA works with passengers to resolve security alarms in a respectful and sensitive manner," the federal agency said. "We have reviewed the circumstances involving this screening and determined that our officers acted professionally and according to proper procedure." Are you concerned about having your rights violated by airport security? (Read more here)
