Bloom stores converting to Food Lion
Bloom, the upscale grocery chain, is saying goodbye to the Qcity.
Over the next month or so, all seven Charlotte-area stores will be converted to Food Lion locations, the Belgium-based parent of both chains announced Monday. Delhaize America said it also would convert its eight stores in the Greenville, S.C., market and close its one store in Mauldin, S.C.
Delhaize gave no reason for the moves but issued a statement saying the conversions would enable the company to “provide the most appropriate Delhaize America banner” for the affected markets.
Bloom will now focus its efforts on southern Virginia and the Washington, D.C., markets, the statement said.
The 15 Carolinas stores affected by the transition will remain open during the switch.
