Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation at 165 Kingford Drive, at Windgate Apartments. Police have identified the victim in this case but are withholding the name until the family is notified.

CMPD officers received a call on February 4, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. from maintenance of the apartment complex. While checking on a broken pipe within the apartment, blood was located. The maintenance worker immediately called 911.

Once detectives arrived, they followed several clues which lead them to the victim who was located in a dumpster nearby says detective, T. Brandon, the lead detective on the case.

According to the information detectives have collected throughout the investigation, all parties are acquaintances of the victim.

Crime Scene search is collecting evidence and photographing the scene. Homicide detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and a suspect.
