A 6-year-old boy was in stable condition Wednesday night after he was struck by a white pickup truck while riding his bike in east Charlotte.

Police said the driver of the truck kept going.

The incident occurred in the 5300 block of Sharon Amity Road, between Shamrock Drive and Milton Avenue. Police did not release the victim’s name.

Police later stopped a truck matching a witness’ description and arrested the driver, 30-year-old Juan Carlos Carmona-Lopez. He was charged with felony hit and run and driving without a license.

A passenger in the truck, 30-year-old Geovani Islas Ramires, was charged with failure to give information or assistance, a misdemeanor.

The victim was taken to a hospital is serious condition.

Carmona-Lopez was booked into the Mecklenburg jail with bond set at $8,000.
