Bryan Garnett, a former West Charlotte High football player, was named CIAA offensive lineman of the week for his efforts in leading Elizabeth City State University to a 45-27 win over Johnson C. Smith University.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 330-pound senior led an offensive line that blocked for 372 yards -- including 277 in the air –and gave up only one sack. ECSU's quarterback threw for 240 yards while the team’s offensive line blocked for three touchdowns on the ground and two in the air.

Constance Holloway has been named editor of Pride Magazine, Publisher Dee Dixon recently announced.

Holloway has a long history working with Pride, most recently as freelance editor.

“We are thrilled about Constance’s new role as editor,” said Dixon. “She truly understands the Pride reader and she brings a wealth of experience with her in her new role.”

Holloway earned a bachelor's degree in public relations from the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She worked in the newsroom of the Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer as a copy-layout editor, and the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer in positions ranging from copy editor to editor of a weekly entertainment publication.

Ricci Pullum was promoted to account executive, and Tye Feimster has taken on additional responsibilities that include maintaining and updating Pride’s website and handling the publication’s social media outreach.

The moves are part of a larger restructuring at the bimonthly publication. The magazine’s former publisher, Torrey Feimster, was recently named director of corporate relations at Johnson C. Smith University.

Dixon said Feimster’s departure was “bittersweet.”

“Torrey will be sorely missed, but he’s also my son,” she said, “so I’m wishing him all the best in his new career at Johnson C. Smith University.”
