A Butler High School football player was charged in a fatal wreck Saturday that killed a motorcycle rider.

Deion Walker, a 17-year-old senior running back, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, failure to yield the right of way and driving without a license.

Killed in the wreck was Nathan Scott Hartis, 51, of Midland.

According to police, Hartis was riding his motorcycle on Rocky River Church Road near Albemarle Road when Walker's Impala turned in front of him.

According to the Observer, Walker was cited for driving without a license in September and is awaiting trial.

Butler coach Mike Newsome said he didn't know if Walker would play in the undefeated Bulldogs' final regular season game on Friday against Independence High, the Observer also reported.
