A Charlotte fugitive and registered sex offender was arrested Friday in Georgia.

Reginald Peters, 41, charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. In December 2008, shortly after his probation officer discovered pornographic materials in his house, he cut off his court-ordered monitor and fled.

He was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service in the town of Roswell, a suburb of Atlanta.

“The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team never stopped working this case, even after it was confirmed that Peters had fled the state,” the department said in a statement.

Peters was featured on “America's Most Wanted” television show and was included on CMPD's Most Wanted list. Authorities said they received numerous tips concerning his whereabouts.

As of Friday Peters was being held in the Fulton County jail pending extradition proceedings.
