Charlotte police nab 2002 murder suspect in Maine
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a murder suspect wanted in the 2002 killing of a Charlotte woman.
Robert Bell, 38, was taken into custody Monday morning in Portland, Maine, and charged with the May 8, 2002, killing of Jamie Dunbar.
Dunbar’s body was found inside a residence in the 7100 block of Village Green Drive after officers went there in response to a 911 call.
DNA evidence collected at the scene was traced to an unknown male. The sample was entered into the National DNA Database and in 2010 was linked to Bell, police said Monday after the arrest.
Authorities eventually traced Bell to Portland.
