Church takes controversial stand on interracial couples

Good morning Qcity! Can you believe it’s already December 1st? Today, the weatherman is calling for sunshine and highs in the mid 50s. Tonight, expect mostly clear skies and a low around 30°
Here's what's brewing in the news:
Church bans interracial couples
In a move reminiscent of some Jim Crow-era mandate, a small Kentucky church passed
a resolution that prohibits interracial couples from becoming members and from being used in worship activities, except for funerals.
It all started after the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church received a visit from 24-year-old Stella Harville and her 29-year-old fiancé, Ticha Chikuni, a native of Zimbabwe. The couple performed a song for the congregation. Afterwards, the church’s pastor, Melvin Thompson, informed the couple they were not allowed to perform at the church again, Kentucky.com reports.
Thompson proposed the recent resolution, which was accepted by a 9-6 vote last week, to make it clear that the church does not condone interracial marriage. However, he says all people are welcome to attend public worship.
