Immunization Awareness Month
April is Immunization Awareness Month in North Carolina. Over 23,000 CMS students need back to school shots before the first day of school on August 25. Now is the time for parents and guardians to plan ahead and make appointments for immunizations.

Vaccines are not just for infants and young children; adolescents and adults need to be protected against disease as well. The N.C. Division of Public Health is reminding parents to protect their teens and pre-teens by bringing them up to date on required and recommended vaccinations.

Immunization requirements and information are listed on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools website: www.cms.k12.nc.us or www.immunizenc.org .

Immunizations are available at the Mecklenburg County Health Department. Due to changes in the Vaccine for Children (VCF) funding, a fee may apply. Be sure to bring your student’s vaccination record and insurance information.
