Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Friday in the parking lot of a west Charlotte nightclub.

The victim was later identified as Paul Anthony Fyffe Jr., 24.

Police were called to Club 935 at 2:27 a.m. to investigate reports that shots had been fired. When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at Carolina Medical Center-Main.

The victim’s name was not immediately released pending family notification.

Club 935 is in the 900 block of S. Summit Avenue, just outside the uptown loop in an area bounded by Morehead Street, Freedom Drive and Interstate 77.
