A drug deal gone bad may have led to the fatal shooting of a man dropped off Wednesday at Carolinas Medical Center, according to police.

Kevin King              Ramses Ratcliff       Brandon King

Authorities on Thursday arrested three men and charged them with killing 32-year-old Singbay Mulbah and attempting to steal his drugs and money.

Police said Mulbah had gone to a location in the 5400 block of Pin Oak Circle in east Charlotte to sell “a large quantity of drugs” to the suspects. But instead of closing the deal, police say, the suspects had decided to rob him.

As Mulbah ran away, police said, the suspects shot at him several times. A bullet struck his femoral artery.

Hospital staff called police after someone driving a black Cadillac dropped off Mulbah and left. Police now say that person was Mulbah’s brother, who has not been charged with a crime.

Arrested in the killing were: Kevin DeWayne King, 20; Brandon Gregory King, 23, (brother of Kevin King); and Ramses Arthur Malloy Ratcliff, 28. All were charged with murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Mecklenburg jail records show that Brandon King had been arrested at least 10 times previously. Kevin King had been arrested at least three times previously.

Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Burglary suspect arrested after police trace property
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested 20-year-old Shadarius Thompson in connection with a burglary that occurred at a home in West Charlotte late last month.

On May 23, officers responded to a call from a man who said he returned home to find his front door kicked in and several items, including electronic equipment and jewelry, stolen from his house.

Using serial numbers from the stolen items, officers were able to trace the victim’s flat screen television and jewelry to a local pawn shop.

After officers prohibited the pawn shop from selling the items, the victim was able to identify them as the property reported stolen from his home.

A warrant was issued for Thompson, and he was apprehended Tuesday without incident. Thompson has been charged with breaking and entering with force and felony larceny.

CMPD strongly urges citizens to record and save all serial and model numbers from electronic equipment and other expensive items. They say that information proved invaluable in this case. Without the information the items may have never been recovered or the suspect arrested.

Burglary suspect arrested, then linked to another crime
Police arrested 19-year-old Denzell Devon Flowers on Monday in connection with a home break-in that occurred in East Charlotte.

Officers were responding to a call from a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious person entering the backyard of a home in the 1100 block of Nancy Drive.

When officers knocked at the door, they say Flowers jumped from a window in the home and ran. An officer gave chase and apprehended Flowers, who was later identified by the witness as the man he saw in the victim’s yard.

Flowers was charged with breaking and entering, felony larceny and resisting arrest.

During the course of this investigation, detectives say they determined that Flowers is also the suspect who broke into a home of a 77-year-old woman on Monday.

The victim said she was taking out the trash when she noticed the suspect standing inside her home. She identified Flowers in a police line-up as the man she saw.

Flowers is now facing an additional charge of breaking and entering with force. Anyone with additional information concerning this case may forward anonymous tips to the Crime Stoppers tip line at 704-334-1600 or online at charlottecrimestoppers.com
