Parents wishing to enter their students in the CMS lottery for magnet schools have until 10 p.m. tonight (Feb. 7).

Families who wish to apply for a magnet program, return to their home school, or exercise Title I choice need to participate in the online process. CMS will offer 10 magnet programs at 37 schools for the 2011-2012 school year.

Programs include visual and performing arts, language immersion, International Baccalaureate, leadership and global economics and Montessori. Any student may apply to a magnet program. Students must meet eligibility requirements, if any, before enrollment is finalized. Transportation is provided if the magnet school serves the student’s transportation zone or is a countywide program.

Notification letters of lottery assignments will be mailed to families at the end of February.
