CMS releases names on 22 task forces
CMS Superintendent Heath Morrison (Qcitymetro.com)
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has released the makeup of 22 task forces that will advise Superintendent Heath Morrison on ways to improve the district.
The volunteers will be centered around topics ranging from teacher compensation to African American males to the achievement gap and will include student, CMS and community representatives.
Each task force will be led by a CMS employee and a community member, and each will have about 15 members from the district and the community. For example, the African American males task force will be led by CMS Deputy Superintendent Ann Clark and community leaders Eric Watson of Food Lion and diversity consultant Nick Wharton. Members include Chief Rodney Moore of CMPD, Patrick Graham of the Urban Leage and Fred Whitfield of the Bobcats.
All task forces will launch in January, except for the compensation task force, which will launch in March. Initial organizing meetings for each task force will be closed to the public; all other meetings will be open.
Recommendations will be made public in June.
