CMS students to study arena's financial operations
More than 100 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students on Wednesday will get an upclose look at the financial operations that help support Time-Warner Cable Arena.
The students, who attend W.G. Person and Rogers-Herr middle schools, will spend the day with Charlotte Bobcats officials who help manage the arena. They will meet with the team’s finance department, tour the arena with specific attention to how certain features impact the team’s budget, get a run-thru of how concession stands operate and participation in pre-game activities.
The event is sponsored by the Bobcats and the N.C. Support Center Youth Financial Education (YFE) Program of Durham, which teams with N.C. school districts, youth groups and community organizations to promote saving and to teach youths the importance of money management.
The YFE program has worked with nearly 1,000 young people in the state, including hosting 525 kids in summer camps. The program also organizes youth savings clubs, investment clubs, scholarships and branch tours of community development credit unions.
For more information, visit the group’s Web site at www.ncmsc.org.
YFE is sponsored by the N.C. Support Center in Durham, a statewide organization that works with Community Development Credit Unions (CDCUs), providing technical assistance, grants and loans to help them build generational wealth and create economic opportunities to individuals, families and communities.
