Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a former high school teacher on Friday, February 5 and charged him with sexual activity with a student.

Brett Haight, 29 taught at Olympic High School until his resignation on January 6, 2010. The victim is a 17 year-old girl; her name is being withheld for privacy. David Turner, detective with the Special Victim's Division is the lead investigator in this case.

Turner was informed of alleged misconduct between Mr. Haight and the student on December 1, 2009. Haight has been under investigation since then.

Turner worked closely with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Law Enforcement during the investigation.

It has been determined that the sexual activity occurred at the former teacher’s home. Inappropriate conduct occurred at Olympic High School. Turner is still investigating whether or not other students may have been victimized.
