CMS teacher is found dead
Anthony Davis, a 38-year-old teacher at Randolph Middle School, was found dead this morning inside his southwest Charlotte home.
Police say they were called to Davis’ home in the 7500 block of Lady Liberty Lane shortly before 9 a.m. after a relative was unable to reach him.
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman said the investigation is in its early stages. Homicide and Firearms detectives were still at the victim’s house early this afternoon, the Charlotte Observer reported.
Police say Davis’ car – a silver or gray 2007 Ford Edge with N.C. license tag XWE-2401 – is missing.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman Cynthia Robbins said Davis taught career and technology education and had worked at Randolph Middle since 2004. He had been with CMS in various positions for more than 11 years.
Robbins said grief counselors were at Randolph Middle today and would return on Wednesday.
Principal Jackie Menser is sending a letter home today with all Randolph Middle students to inform parents of Davis’ death, she said.
