Pat Rodgers, CEO of Rodgers Builders, has been named winner of the 2011 Whitney M. Young Jr. Award.

The award is given each year by the Urban League of Central Carolinas to an individual who has made a significant commitment to workforce development, training and education.

Rodgers is a longtime supporter of the local Urban League. She also is past board chair of the McColl Center for Visual Arts, past board chair of the Mint Museum, immediate past board chair of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and, most recently, chair of the Charlotte Chamber.

Kim Graham, a vice president and community relations manager at Bank of America, will receive the 2011 Urban League Unsung Hero Award.

Graham is a director for the Friendship CDC and the North Carolina Housing Coalition. She is a former member of the United Way Housing Funds Allocation Committee and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership Board.

Leford Green, a senior at Johnson C. Smith University, has been named Division II Atlantic Region Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association.

Green, a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica, heads into the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships March 11 in Albuquerque, N.M., with the fastest time in the 400 meters at 47.03 seconds and as anchor leg on JCSU’s second-ranked 4×400-meter relay. Earlier this season he won the 2011 CIAA 400-meter title and anchored the team’s 4×400-meter relay to a third-place finish.

At the conclusion of the 2010 season, Green was named Atlantic Region and National Track Athlete of the Year.
