Have your say on Mecklenburg spending
Looking to have your say concerning next year’s county budget?
Various Mecklenburg leaders - including County Manager Harry Jones and county commissioners Chair Jennifer Roberts - are expected today at public forum designed to receive citizen input.
Commissioners have cut county spending by more than $150 million since 2009, including cuts to libraries, parks, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Central Piedmont Community College. Hundreds of county workers have been laid off.
The county is in the early stages of putting together next year's spending plan, which will almost certainly include additional cuts.
Today’s forum will be moderated by Willie Ratchford of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee.
