Crime-fighting app released in Qcity
Charlotte residents receive the latest technology in the fight against crime.
CMPD partnered with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers to release the Crime Stoppers mobile app in a media briefing Tuesday afternoon.
The new technology allows the community to assist CMPD in reducing crime from a mobile phone or tablet.
The mobile app features include an anonymous tip submission via telephone, email video or photo. One can also be directed to the nearest law enforcement office as well as search who is on CMPD's most wanted list. If a citizen is in need of help there is a one-touch dialing button to call Crime Stoppers.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers is the first organization in the Southeast to use this innovation.
Members of the Crime Stoppers board met at CMPD headquarters on Tuesday to demonstrate the app and answer questions.
For more information or to subscribe to the app, go to iTunes, Google Play or the Blackberry Platform and download it for free.
