Deltas break ground on new center
The Deltas of Charlotte Foundation Inc. recently broke ground on a new Delta Life Center on Beatties Ford Road.
The facility will be used primarily for meetings and community projects of Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority Inc. (Charlotte Alumnae Chapter) and Deltas of Charlotte Foundation. Construction is expected to take eight to 10 months.
We're excited about this special opportunity to build a facility for our chapter, foundation and our community,” Ellen Flamer, president DOCF, said in a statement.
DOCF is the non-profit arm of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Charlotte Alumnae Chapter. The foundation’s mission is to raise funds to support community projects. The foundation holds four major fundraiser events: Legacy Film Showcase (January), CIAA Red-D or Not Party (March), Bachelors Auction (May) and Night of Elegance (December). Net proceeds are used to award college scholarships as well as donations to non-profit organizations.
