Charlotte-Mecklenburg police identified the victims of Friday night's double homicide on Winged Elm Court as Koeppell Lee Hall III, 28, and Terrell Nikko Carter, 27.

Detectives are still working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the killings, CMPD said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Friday were called to investigate a double homicide in the 6100 block of Winged Elm Court in east Charlotte.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths were not immediately known.

Officers from the Independence division received a call for service at 7:22 p.m. in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon.

The victims were found inside an apartment but were not immediately identified. Both appeared to have been shot. Medic pronounced them dead on scene.
