Friday night shooting victim has died
A man who was shot on the dance floor of an uptown nightclub Thursday night has died.
Police this morning identified the victim as 25-year-old Dominic Nicholas Mahone.
The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. at the Breakfast Club in the 200 block of Caldwell Street, not far from the Time Warner Cable Arena.
Witnesses told police Mahone was on the dance floor when a woman walked up and fired two shots, including one in the head. It is unclear how the woman was able to get the gun into the club past security.
Mahone was taken to a hospital with injuries described by police as life threatening. He died Friday at 9:25 a.m.
The suspect fled in what witnesses described as a royal blue Chevrolet with custom rims.
