From census to success
It’s not too late to get counted.
On Sunday, Angeles Ortega-Moore, who does work for the U.S. Census Bureau, will be a guest on the local PBS show, “GoodWorks with Rahman Khan.”
Ortega-Moore will talk about the campaign to change the bureau’s image in traditionally under-served communities, especially among African Americans and Latinos.
The allocation of more than $400 billion dollars in federal funding is riding on the Census outcome.
Khan chats with Ortega-Moore about ways the Census Bureau is trying to break down barriers to build long-last relationships with minority groups.
“We are trying to make a very intentional effort to go out where the community is to create those relationships,” she said, “to create that trust.”
Khan also interviews entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker, Stedman Graham, who talks about ways to thrive in the current economic climate. Those seeking success, Graham said, must not stop at education.
“Education doesn’t teach you about who you are,” he says. “It gives you courses... Either you fail the courses or you pass courses. But there’s a missing piece there -- how much talent do you have?”
“GoodWorks with Rahman Khan” is a weekly show which focuses on highlighting the 'goodworks' in all of us, whether it's corporations, celebrities or just everyday people making positive changes in the community.
The show airs Sunday at noon.
