Police are investigating the death of a 17-year old girl whose body was found Saturday in the yard of a vacant house in southwest Charlotte.

Police identified the victim as Aerial Patterson.

No cause of death was listed, and police did not offer a potential motive.

Earlier in the day, Patterson was dropped off by a friend at a vacant house in the 15100 block of Arbroath Court, just west of Steel Creek Road and north of the North Carolina/South Carolina state line. According to police, Patterson had gone to the location to meet “an unknown subject through a pre-arrangement.”

When the friend returned to pick up the victim, she discovered Patterson’s body in the yard. The friend was said to be cooperating with the investigation and went voluntarily to police headquarters to give a statement.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
