Haynesworth: I don't even like black girls

Good Morning! Today is Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, which always occurs on the fourth Thursday of April.
It is not only an opportunity for young people to shadow their parents, guardians or mentors at work but also to learn about the connection between what they learn in school and their future goals.
If you plan to take your son or daughter (or someone else’s) to the office with you, please tell us about it in the comment section below or share your experiences and photos with us on our Facebook page.
Today is going to be a rainy one. The weatherman is calling for thunderstorms, some strong this morning, then partly cloudy during the afternoon hours. There is also a chance for hail and strong winds. The good news is that the sun should come out tomorrow! The weekend forecast is beautiful, sunny with highs in the 70’s.
Here’s what is brewing in the news this morning:
Haynesworth: I don't even like black girls
The Washington Post reports that NFL player Albert Haynesworth was indicted on
a charge of misdemeanor sexual abuse in connection with a February incident with a waitress. According to documents filed in D.C. Superior Court, an African-American waitress alleges that the Redskins defensive tackle fondled her breasts after putting his debit card down her bra.
In court papers and a letter to Haynesworth’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, prosecutors offered to dismiss the sexual abuse charge associated with the alleged incident if Haynesworth pleads guilty to simple assault. Bolden said his client is innocent and has no plans to accept the plea.
The court documents provide the first detailed account of the alleged incident. In an interview with D.C. detectives, Haynesworth allegedly said that the waitress was making up the accusations because she was upset that he had a white girlfriend.
He is quoted as saying: “She was trying to get with me,” and “I don’t even like black girls.”
If convicted, Haynesworth could face up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Coffee prices to go up
Your morning cup of joe, may soon cost you a little more to brew. Coffee prices have surged to a 34-year high. A pound of coffee costs twice as much as it did just last spring. The increase in price has been attributed to erratic weather and damaged crops in prime coffee growing regions from Columbia to Kenya. Meanwhile, there is a growing demand from countries like India and China. Apparently, there is too little premium coffee in a world that has tastes for more.

Teacher arrested for walking around naked
The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that a Georgia teacher was arrested after he was caught parading the halls of an elementary school with his clothes off. Harlan Porter may have been upset after losing his job. The police report says Porter, 31, had been behaving unusually after learning that his contract would not be renewed. Teachers told police that he was a vegan who'd sworn off soft drinks, yet he'd gone to Taco Bell for tacos in the hours before he stripped.
The arresting officer wrote in the incident report that Porter spoke of a "new level of enlightenment" and said "he wanted everybody to be free now that his third eye was open." Porter was charged with public indecency and indecent exposure, and booked into the Clayton County Jail. By Wednesday, he was out on a $2,000 bond.
The incident occurred after students had went home for the day and none saw him naked, according to the report.
