Wanna see the best college team in basketball? Well, you’ll have to wait until Tuesday night to catch them in action.

That’s right, it’s not Duke or Butler or even Kentucky, Kansas or Syracuse. It’s none other than the Lady Huskies of Connecticut, winners of 77 straight games.

UConn, which will battle Stanford for the women’s national title in San Antonio, has all but wrapped up the title, beating their opponents by an average of 33 points during the tournament. The Lady Bears of Baylor, lead by freshman sensation Britney Griner, gave them a scare over the weekend but the Lady Huskies blew the cap off the game and won by 20.

You’ll be entertained watching guard/forward Maya Moore scoring outside and inside with a variety of jumpers or post-ups. She’s a three-time All-American, but it’s her teammate, Tina Charles -- the AP National Player of Year -- who is a beast down low, averaging nearly a double-double. Right- and left-hand hooks with a nice medium-range jumper make her tough to guard.

By the way, the match-up with Stanford will be an interesting one on several fronts. First, let’s consider that Stanford’s own All-American, Nneka Ogwumike, put up 36 points and 16 boards in the team’s last game and will prove to be a challenge to slow down as she has been all season.

Secondly, the Lady Cardinals are the last team to beat UConn. It’s been a while, but if there’s one team that knows they can dethrone this juggernaut it’s Stanford.

Not to mention that Jayne Appel, Stanford’s other All-American player, was a key contributor on the team that defeated the Lady Huskies.

No worries, though, UConn will take care of business and take home its second consecutive title.

Men’s National Championship
The match-up is set. It’s the Butler Bulldogs versus the Duke Blue Devils on Monday night for the national championship.

It would seem that fate has brought the Bulldogs to the brink of winning their first title in their own backyard of Indianapolis. Defense is Butler’s mantra, as no team has scored more than 60 points against them in the tournament.

The Blue Devil offense is working like a well-oiled machine, and swingman Kyle Singler found his jumpshot again, just in time to join his backcourt teammates Nolan Smith and Jon Scheyer in dismantling teams with long-range 3-pointers or drives to the basket.

Duke’s “Big 3” have clearly been better than any other starting five in the tournament, and that fact won’t change against the Bulldogs as they win their fourth championship under the leadership of Coach K.
