Jacob's Ladder hires two for W. Charlotte training center
The Jacob's Ladder Job Center, using a $100,000 grant from the Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation, has hired two staffers at its new Jacob's Ladder West facility.
The new hires are:
Susan Pierson, who joined Jacob's Ladder West as project manager. She moved from
a contract position to a full-time, salaried employee. Pierson, a native of Florida, previously worked in multiple roles as an AmeriCorps member with Habitat for Humanity Charlotte. A graduate of Dickinson College, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion.
Margo Scurry joined Jacob's Ladder West as a program coordinator to manage
technology instruction and classroom teaching. Scurry is also a consultant-relationship manager at Scurry & Associates and has more than 20 years of technology and project-management experience. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics, economics and computer science from Norfolk State University.
Steffi Travis, executive director of Jacob's Ladder, said the organization was grateful for the grant.
Jacob’s Ladder is a nonprofit working to break the cycle of chronic unemployment. It’s new west Charlotte location (2201 Caronia Street) is the anchor tenant of the new Center for Employment Services (the Center) located in the Charlotte Housing Authority’s Arbor Glen community.
The facility includes classrooms, a clothing closet, administrative offices, meeting space and a state-of-the-art computer lab.
