JCSU falls 59-0
The Johnson C. Smith University football team is off to a 0-2 start after a 59-0 drubbing Thursday night at the hands of North Carolina Central University in Durham.
The Golden Bulls won the coin toss and chose to defer until the second half. N.C. Central drove 95 yards in 13 plays for their first touchdown. By the end of the first half, the Golden Bulls trailed 26-0 with only two yards rushing on six attempts.
JCSU lost two fumbles in the first half and controlled the ball for just under 10 minutes, compared to 20:04 for NCCU. Eight first-half penalties totaling 66 yards also hurt JCSU.
