The Johnson C. Smith University women’s basketball team has received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament.

JCSU enters as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Glenville State College, which plays in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC).

After capturing the CIAA Southern Division title, the Lady Golden Bulls lost to Shaw University 62-56 in the conference title game Saturday at Time Warner Cable Arena.

At 24-4, they finished the post season with the best overall record in the history of JCSU’s women's program. The previous best mark was 22-5 during the 1999-2000 season.

JCSU coach Vanessa Taylor, named CIAA Coach of the Year, also finished the season with a career-best mark.

The JCSU/Glenville game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA.
