The Johnson C. Smith University women’s basketball team lost its final home game of the season Monday 62-58 to St. Augustine’s College – a team that beat them nine day earlier in Raleigh.

With less than a week to go before the start of the CIAA Tournament, the Lady Golden Bulls are 21-3 on the season, 13-3 in the CIAA and 7-2 in the CIAA Southern Division. They will enter the tournament as the top-ranked women’s team despite dropping both games this season to the 17-9 Lady Rams of St. Augustine’s.

In Monday second game, the JCSU men defeated St. Augustine’s 70-62, splitting the season series.

The men team improved to 15-9 overall, 11-5 in the CIAA and 4-5 in the Southern Division.

Both JCSU teams close out the 2010-11 regular season on the road against Livingstone College on Saturday. Women’s tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
