JCSU's Carter named Man of the Year.

The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women Clubs of Charlotte has named Ron Carter, president of Johnson C. Smith University, its Man of the Year.

Carter will receive his award at the organization's 33rd Founders' Day Luncheon Saturday.

Carter came to JCSU almost two years ago. Before coming to coming to Charlotte, he served students and universities for over 30 years in the both the U.S. and Africa. He has a record of community leadership and academic administration. 

Carter recently made headlines with the announcement that Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State, will speak at Johnson C. Smith's commencement on May 2.

The luncheon is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the University City Hilton.
