The Johnson C. Smith University basketball team is in the CIAA final.

After beating Bowie State 69-64 today at Time Warner Cable Arena, the Lady Golden Bulls will face Shaw University for the CIAA women’s crown. Shaw earned a trip to the finals by defeating Saint Augustine's College 74-65.

JCSU, the champion the Southern Division and a favorite to win the CIAA crown, overcame a four-point deficit in the final 54 seconds. Terran Quattlebaum and LaQwesha Gamble each finished with 17 points. Gamble also had a team-high seven rebounds.

The JCSU men will play Shaw in the semifinals at 7 p.m. In the 9 p.m. semifinal matchup, Livingstone College will take on Fayetteville State.

In 2009, both JCSU teams captured CIAA crowns.
