Convicted co-pastors Anthony and Harriet Jinwright will not face sentencing on Oct. 7 as scheduled.

According to records filed last week in U.S. District Court, presiding Judge Frank Whitney has postponed the couple's sentencing date.

No indication was given concerning a new date. Nor did the records indicate a reason for the postponement.

Objections have been filed with the court concerning the Jinwrights’ pre-sentencing report, but because those documents are sealed, the nature of the objection, or which side filed it, could not be determined.

The Jinwrights, who lead Greater Salem City of God and own two Charlotte funeral homes, were convinced May 3 on multiple counts related to federal tax evasion. According to testimony presented during their four-week trial, they failed to report more than $1.8 million in income on their federal tax returns between 2001 and 2007.

Witnesses testified that the couple routinely collected "love offerings" during Greater Salem’s worship services and took the money home in bags. Others testified that the couple used church money to lease luxury cars, pay for vacations, and to pay their daughter's college tuition. Much of that money went unreported on federal tax returns, the government said.

Anthony Jinwright has been in jail since his conviction.
