Krista Terrell is promoted to VP at Arts & Science Council
Krista Terrell, a veteran in the city’s cultural sector, has been promoted to vice president
of public relations and communications at the Arts & Science Council.
Terrell previously worked as communications director and joined ASC in 2002 as public relations specialist.
In her new role, Terrell will lead efforts go build ASC’s reach and brand.
Terrell has worked in the cultural sector for 11 years. Prior to joining ASC, she worked in public relations and marketing for Community School of the Arts and Johnson C. Smith University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication arts.
A native of Augusta, Ga., she is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and serves on the Social Capital Committee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Foundation. She is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte and co-led public service efforts for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Charlotte Alumnae Chapter.

Cathy Hurd has been promoted to associate dean of Johnson C. Smith’s new Metropolitan
College, which offers adult and continuing education courses.
Her primary responsibility at the Metropolitan College will be to build the school’s academic program, assist and hire staff, recruit students, maintain student records, and coordinate registration and other adult learner activities.
Hurd has worked at JCSU since January 2009. She previously worked in JCSU President Ronald Carter’s office as assistant to the president for administration. She begins her new job June 1.

Rixon Campbell has been named an executive assistant in the office of JCSU President
Ronald Carter, replacing Cathy Hurd (above).
Campbell has worked most of his career in the hospitality/food service industry in leading positions with FDY Inc., Livingstone College and Darden Restaurants. He also served as a hotel & restaurant management instructor at Katherine Gibbs College in New York.
Campbell holds a bachelor's of science degree from Bethune Cookman University. He received his masters of science in organizational management from St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is completing his doctor of business administration from Argosy University in Atlanta, Ga. He begins his new job June 1.
