Magic Johnson wishes he hadn’t retired so soon
It has been nearly 20 years since former LA Laker Magic Johnson announced to the world that he was HIV-positive. To this day, Johnson has regrets about leaving the game so soon. “If I knew what I know now, I wouldn't have retired," Johnson said in an interview with LA Times columnist Bill Plaschke. "But I didn't know that then. And you've just got to go with what happened."
In this next video, Magic shares what happened the day he received the news that he was HIV positive. His shares how he broke the news to his wife Cookie, who was pregnant with his son at the time. “Driving home to tell my wife I had HIV was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life,” said Johnson.

DC Sniper Malvo wants a new name
D.C.-area sniper Lee Boyd Malvo was 17 when he went on a cross-country killing spree with John Allen Muhammad, resulting in the murder of 10 people over a three-week period in October 2002. The Washington Post is reporting that Wise County Judge Tammy McElyea rejected the request on Friday. In court filings, Malvo claimed he wanted the name change because he was concerned about assaults from other inmates. The judge noted that Malvo had not had problems in his seven years at Red Onion State Prison. (Read more)

Polygamist Leader convicted of child sexual abuse, faces life
Polygamist Warren Jeffs found guilty of child bride rapes, reports The Salt Lake Tribune. A jury found Jeffs guilty on Friday of two counts of sexual abuse against two girls, ages 12 and 14, who he took as plural wives. Jeffs, 55, calls himself the prophet and leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The group’s theology calls for men to have three wives to get into heaven. Jeffs, who represented himself during the trial, used the 30 minutes allotted to him for closing arguments to stare silently at the jury for about 24 minutes, then muttered, “I am at peace,” before taking his seat. He reportedly showed no emotion as the verdict was read. The jury must now decide his sentence, which could be a maximum of life in prison. (Read more)
